Sharing a meal is about more than food—it’s an opportunity to practice kindness, build relationships, and make others feel that they belong!
In this interactive life skills class, students will learn the foundations of table manners and hospitality while exploring both sides of dining etiquette: how to be a gracious host and a considerate guest. Through engaging activities, theater games, collaborative challenges, and practical experiences, students will develop the confidence to navigate mealtimes and social gatherings with courtesy and thoughtfulness.
Students will practice welcoming guests, setting a table, using napkins and utensils appropriately, requesting and passing food politely, participating in table conversation, and responding graciously when something goes wrong. They will also explore how to handle unfamiliar foods, express appreciation, offer assistance, and ensure everyone feels included.
Hands-On Activities Include:
Table-Setting Relay: Work in teams to arrange a proper place setting while discovering the purpose behind each plate, utensil, and napkin.
