About the event
Session 1 β Feel the Beat: Your Body Is an Instrument
Students discover the difference between beat and rhythm through marching, clapping, dancing, body percussion, movement games, and group challenges. Children begin developing the ability to maintain a steady pulse individually and as an ensemble.
>Session 2 β Rhythm Makers: Turning Noise into Music
Using drums, shakers, rhythm instruments, and ordinary household objects, students explore how sounds can be organized into patterns. Activities introduce rhythmic imitation, rests, tempo, dynamics, conducting, and improvisation.
>Session 3 β Music Is Math: Hearing Fractions
Students physically build and perform musical measures while exploring whole, half, quarter, and eighth-note relationships. Games and large-scale manipulatives transform fractions and equivalency into something children can see, hear, and move through.
