Inside the Brain: A Hands-On Neuroscience Lab (corresponds to 10th grade lab)

All supplies are provided (we purchase materials from Home Science Tools).

Step inside the fascinating world of neuroscience! In this hands-on laboratory experience, students will investigate the structure and function of the mammalian brain while exploring how the nervous system receives information, processes signals, and coordinates responses throughout the body.

Using a preserved sheep brain as an anatomical model, students will examine the brain’s external structures before investigating its internal anatomy through a guided dissection. Students will connect what they observe to the functions of the human nervous system and discover how specialized structures work together to keep the body functioning.

🔬 What Students Will Explore

  • Sheep Brain Dissection: Examine the cerebrum, cerebral hemispheres, cerebellum, brainstem, and spinal cord.
